Every regular pub quiz host has a go-to set of rounds. If you're stuck in a rut, here are twelve that consistently land:
- Music intro round — 10 song intros, 5–10 seconds each. Bonus points for naming the year.
- Picture round — 12 cropped logos, faces or landmarks on a printed sheet.
- Name the year — give a list of events from a year, teams write down the year. Closest wins.
- Anagram round — themed anagrams, e.g. movies, capitals or footballers.
- True or false speed round — 20 statements in 90 seconds. Hands up to answer.
- Connection round — five questions, the answers all share a hidden link.
- Odd one out — three things on screen, which doesn't belong and why.
- Half-and-half — name two things that fit a clue (e.g. "two French presidents since 2010").
- Categories race — name as many of X as you can in 60 seconds.
- Audio mash-up — two songs played simultaneously, name both.
- Wager round — 5 questions, teams allocate 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 points. Wrong answer = zero.
- Last-question gamble — final question worth double for teams who write "all-in". Closes out tight nights.
Mix three or four of these into your standard format. Rotate weekly so regulars never know exactly what's coming.
