Custom branding is part of the Host plan. On the free Starter plan, your events show the default Quizlix theme — which is fine, but a branded quiz looks 10× more professional on a TV across the room.
What you can customize
- Logo — upload a PNG or SVG of your bar's logo. Shown on the host view, the join screen and the players' phones.
- Primary color — used for the timer bar, scoring highlights and the join button. Pick one from your bar's brand.
- Background style — solid color, gradient, or upload a custom background image (1920×1080 recommended).
- Welcome message — replaces the default "Welcome to the quiz!" with your own text. "Welcome to The Crown's Tuesday Quiz Night" works well.
- Join code label — change "Join code" to "Quiz code" or whatever fits your style.
How to set it up
- In the Creator menu, go to Settings → Branding.
- Upload your logo. Best format: PNG with transparent background, at least 200×200 pixels. SVG also supported.
- Pick your primary color — paste a hex code (e.g.
#1A4D8C) or use the color picker. - Choose background style. Solid black or dark navy works best for big-screen visibility — bright backgrounds wash out projector colors.
- Type your welcome message. Keep it short — under 60 characters reads best on a TV.
- Click Preview — opens a fake host view in a new tab so you see exactly what guests will see.
- Save. The branding applies to all events from the next one onwards.
Logo design tips
- Use a horizontal logo — fits the host view banner better than a stacked logo.
- Light text on transparent background — works on dark host view. If your logo is dark, add a light/white version for the dark theme.
- Avoid super-thin fonts — they pixelate on a TV across the room. Bold & chunky reads at 50 feet.
Color tips
- Match your venue, not Quizlix — that's the point. A pub with deep green walls should have a deep green primary color.
- Avoid pure red — clashes with the "wrong answer" red of the scoring screen. Pick a brand color that's distinct from red and green.
- Test on the actual TV — colors render differently on a 50-inch TV vs a laptop. The Preview button helps but a real test-host beats it.
Save branding for re-use
Set the branding once for your account — every event you create uses it automatically. You don't need to re-upload the logo for each new quiz night.
If you host quiz nights at multiple venues, switch branding before creating each event. Branding is account-level, not event-level (yet).
What you can't do (right now)
- Per-event branding (different logo per quiz night). All events use the account's current branding.
- Custom fonts. The host view uses a fixed sans-serif optimized for big-screen readability.
- Hide the Quizlix watermark on free Starter — it's removed automatically on Host.
